Thanks as a fellow tennis fan and former Delaware resident for this poignant account. I believe your losing your father happened around the time of the Charlemagne release show upstairs at City Winery, my first post-Applewood Road live hearing of you. Keep up the prose (and poetry)!

I am on our screen porch in the pre-dawn this morning and as I finish reading a cardinal broke through the early morning nature sounds, we too believe in cardinals.

Someday, I'll have to tell you about the last match my dad and I played. (Might have been his last match also, now that I think about it.) And I remember watching that 2019 Wimbledon thinking how much my dad (who died in December 2018) would have loved it... and would have called me to dissect every point. Love this post, Amy. xo Sally
